1.Download Format Factory. This is arguably the most powerful file format converter you can download, and the best part is, it is free. In addition to converting different video file formats from one to another, it can convert different audio, picture and ROM formats into a different format. However, keep in mind that while you can convert one format into another (e.g., MP3 to WAV file), you cannot convert one file type to another (e.g., converting an audio file into a video file).

2 Open Format Factory once you have installed the program via the setup file. You will see a sidebar that has different categories (Video, Audio, Picture, etc.). For this article, you will want to click on video. Decide what file format you wish to convert to first. This article will describe how to convert into 3GP, as it usually requires the most tweaking (but is still relatively easy). If you wish to convert into an MP4 or any other file format, however, the steps are the same despite the file format.

3.Click on 3GP. A pop-up box will appear asking you what file you wish to add. If you wish to convert multiple files into 3GP and wish to do so all at once, find the folders your files are stationed in on your computer and put them all in one file if they are not already. Once that is done, you may now click "Add File." Find the folder your files are in and add the file. If there is more than one file you wish to add, simply hold down the shift key on your keyboard and highlight them all and then click "Add."

4. Once your files are added, click "Output setting." There will be a lot of options on this screen that can be used to tweak different properties of the video file being created, but generally all you have to change is the video size and bitrate. Change the video size to the size of the device you will be using the video on. Generally, the default setting of 176x174 is good enough, but if you think you will need a lower resolution to properly view the video, then select 128x96. Next adjust the bitrate. This will lower the size of the final file but will in turn lower the video and sound quality. Use your best judgment when adjusting the bitrate. If you do not wish to lower the file size, press "OK."

5. Select where you wish your file or files to be sent to once they are finished. By default the Desktop is selected, but if you have another folder in mind, then select it by pressing "Browse" and finding your folder of choice. Once you have found it, press "OK."

6.Press "Start" at the top of the program. Depending on how large the initial file size was and how many files you are converting, it may take a while. The process is slow but it definitely works
